Corporate Volunteering

We welcome offers by companies to provide its staff as volunteers for Groundwork London projects. Companies can contribute their time in the following ways to Groundwork London:

  • Practical experience – involving corporate volunteers in typical activities such as community gardening or open space improvement projects including wildlife gardens, parks, allotments, youth clubs, schools or community centres.
  • Social experience – engaging corporate volunteers in the ‘social’ aspects of our work, such as fundraising campaigns, community events, outreach work, informal education, changing behaviours and employment/training projects.
  • Pro bono experience – tasking corporate volunteers to use their professional skills (pro bono) to solve a project issue, complete a project task or contribute their own/collective team skills to helping our internal organisation and operations.

Currently we have many group corporate volunteering opportunities including:

·        Construction of raised garden beds in gardens and estates. Preparation of timber, construction and securing of timber and filling of beds with soil and compost.

·        Painting indoors/outdoors in sheltered housing, sheds or youth clubs.

·        River clearing. Clear litter and debris from either the River Quaggy or Ravensbourne River in Lewisham.

·        Path building - level the earthen paths and to lay geotextile and a bark chipping surface in Bellingham.

·        Gardening. Maintenance, planting, weeding, watering, pruning.

·        Nature conservation on Wormwood Scrubs Nature Reserve. Planting trees and hedges, scrub clearance, path creation, building bird boxes.

If your company would like to contribute to Groundwork London’s success then please contact us with the following information:

  • Your key objective for the volunteering action e.g. team-building
  • Timescale (when do you want it to start and how long would you like the activity to last)
  • Number of staff who would be volunteering (per event and in total)
  • Type of activity you are interested in
  • Location sought (if any) – anywhere in London or a specific area of London?
  • Budget available - whilst we welcome the offer of a contribution of your staff’s time, additional costs are incurred by Groundwork London to project manage the volunteers. Our project management costs and all material costs must be covered otherwise, as a non-profit organisation, we will run the project as a deficit. As a rough guide, our corporate volunteering costs range from £1,500-£4,000 plus associated materials (depending on tasks, length of time, staffing levels and volunteer numbers).

Groundwork London requires a minimum period of eight weeks to plan your events. Therefore, you need to submit your offer more than eight weeks before your planned date.

All our volunteering opportunities are dependent on project timings, operational staff availability, required tasks, community beneficiaries’ needs and site restrictions.

Once we have these details from you on your volunteering plans with us, then we work with our operational teams across London to find out what we may be able to offer you at the time you requested.

Groundwork London would like to thank all those corporate volunteers who have made such amazing contributions to our work in the past. We would also like to thank you in advance for your interest in volunteering for us in the future.
